The European Commission has recently published a new draft of interoperability guidelines setting out a roadmap to achieve interoperable electronic health records (EHR) across the continent by the middle of the next decade.
Quicker access to cardiologists, neurologists or radiologists even in remote places in Karnataka is now a possibility, thanks to advances in telecommunication. Cardiac emergencies like thrombosis are now being attended to by trained doctors at the Chamarajanagar district hospital and at 19 public health centres (PHCs) under the Karuna Trust.
The Common Service Centres are ICT-enabled Kiosks having a PC along with basic support equipment like Printer, Scanner, UPS, with Wireless Connectivity as the backbone and additional equipment for edutainment, telemedicine, projection systems, etc.
