MindTree to venture into medical electronics

IT and R&D services provider MindTree Consulting, which announced a major organisational restructuring recently, plans to expand its business line to tap new markets.

The R&D services, which address industries like data networks, cellular networks, voice networks, telecom solutions, computing and storage systems, consumer appliances and industry systems, will enter new segments such as medical electronics, avionics and defence.

The government will allocate INR 1,360 billion (USD 34.50 billion) for healthcare in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-12), up from INR 450 billion in the previous plan, said Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss. He also said that the government will introduce a ‘health smart card’ under the National School Health Programme for every school-going child.
