Professor Howard Bolnick, who taught at the Kellogg School of Management for 13 years and is an international authority on Healthcare will be teaching an intensive 5 day utive Development Programme on Healthcare Financing and Health Insurance, Organized by the Insurance Foundation of India (IFI). The Programme aims to provide attendees with a thorough understanding of economic behavior of insurance markets, and, how to apply this understanding to practical problems of health insurance. Amongst other topics, the Programme will focus on insurance market behaviour, design of effective risk management tools, health insurance environment, and product development. This Programme is essential at this point as the Health Insurance industry is set to emerge as one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. The Programme will provide a comprehensive, multifunctional perspective on how to understand the changes occurring in the Indian health insurance environment and how to drive growth through product innovation, cost control, application of technology so that it can lead to customer satisfaction of large number of customers located all over the country. Attendees will learn from global as well as Indian thought-leaders through case studies and exercises that will help instill key concepts that can be applied in their workplace to maximize the impact made in the company upon return to work. Professor Bolnick will also be supported by Indian faculty members from different segments of Indian Insurance industry and the academic world. These Indian faculty members are authorities in their respective areas, and will be covering the challenges being faced by the insurance industry in India. A large number of participants for the Programme will be from India but we also foresee a good number will be International participants who will be coming from ASEAN, SAARC, South Asian and African countries. This seminar is designed for utives, who want to acquire a deep understanding of the health insurance products, as well as a useful theoretical framework and practical conceptual tools needed to design and manage health insurance products. Indian insurance Industry has been growing rapidly since 2001 when the industry was thrown open to entry of Private players as well as foreign players (max limit of 26%).There is an acute shortage of trained manpower who can handle various aspects of health Insurance business, whether it is underwriting or product development. Health being the fastest growing segment of Indian Insurance Industry many more jobs are coming up in this sector. According to S. K. Sethi, Vice President of IFI those who will be attending this programme in India will be upgrading themselves to handle responsible positions. Many of those who could not go to USA to attend this programme of Prof. Howard Bolnick will find a great opportunity to attend the same in New Delhi itself. We have planned for 50 seats but the response is so encouraging that we find the number may cross 80. Nominations are being received from various Insurance companies/officials who are responsible for introduction of government sponsored health insurance in various states of India.
