The state has appointed a task force for improvement of healthcare facilities in Mumbai. Besides looking at ways to upgrade the existing health infrastructure in the city, the task force will examine the feasibility of introducting ” budget hospitals” for the middle class. Both state-run and public private partnership models will be studied.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the empowered committee of the Mumbai Transformation Support Unit, a policy think tank, on Wednesday. The government has asked the task force to submit a report in this regard within three months. A presentation of the status of health infrastructure in the state was made at the meeting.
