AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited will launch Datverzo (datopotamab deruxtecan), a targeted therapy for advanced HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, in India in November 2026, the company told stock exchanges on 7 November 2026. The update came two days after the drugmaker reported a 30.4% rise in Q2 FY27 revenue to ₹729 crore.

AstraZeneca Datverzo launch: what the filing says
In its exchange intimation, the company said the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) granted Datverzo import and market permission in Form CT-20, which it had disclosed on 17 December 2025. Commercial launch will now follow this month.
Datverzo is approved for adults with unresectable or metastatic hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer (IHC 0, IHC 1+ or IHC 2+/ISH-negative) who have already received endocrine-based therapy and chemotherapy for advanced disease. The filing did not disclose pricing.

The launch adds to an active period for oncology pricing in India. Trade margin caps on 137 anti-cancer drugs take effect on 9 November, as covered in our report on cancer drug price cuts saving ₹3,502 crore a year.

Which oncology approvals came during the quarter?
During Q2, AstraZeneca Pharma India received approvals for trastuzumab deruxtecan in three HER2-positive breast cancer settings: after taxane, trastuzumab and pertuzumab (THP) for Stage II or III early disease; for early disease with residual invasive cancer after neoadjuvant treatment; and with pertuzumab as first-line treatment for unresectable or metastatic disease. It also won approval for benralizumab in hypereosinophilic syndrome for patients aged 12 and above.
Praveen Rao Akkinepally, Country President and Managing Director, said the growth “demonstrates the strength of AstraZeneca’s science-led portfolio” and that the company is “accelerating our efforts across oncology, biopharmaceuticals and rare disease.” Akkinepally took charge after AstraZeneca Pharma India appointed him Managing Director in June 2025.
Why it matters for India’s pharma industry
Antibody-drug conjugates such as datopotamab deruxtecan and trastuzumab deruxtecan are reshaping breast cancer care, and multinational launches in India increasingly sit alongside tighter price regulation. AstraZeneca recently won Delhi High Court relief in a ₹151 crore NPPA inhaler case, and NPPA has also issued trade margin compliance FAQs for cancer drugs, showing how closely oncology portfolios are now watched.
