The Indian Cancer Society(ICS) has taken out its fourth annual cancer awareness walk to mark the world cancer day on 4th February. The society engaged the school children to spread the message of the curability of the disease. Union Sports Minister M.S Gill and Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, Head of the Indian Coast Guard flagged off the walk. The society endeavours to raise awareness about the disease among children and civil society. Its aim is to allay fears among cancer patients and instil the belief that it is not life threatening if detected at a early stage. ICS has been providing medical assistance to cancer -affected kids at Cankids, a unit of the Indian Cancer Society. The society makes visits to hospitals likeAIIMS, Batra Hospital and Apollo to oversee if cancer patients are being given proper treatment.
