More than 250,000 children are born in India with heart disease. Of these, 40% are critically ill requiring urgent surgery. Since thse are mostly underprivileged families, they undergo years of suffering, of constant illness, unable to lead a normal childs life. With this in view MIOT Hospitals is launching a trust called Children’s Heart Internationale MIOT (CHIME) in Chennai at the end of the month. CHIME, is a trust that will provide free treatment for poor children suffering from congenital heart diseases. It will offer free surgery for affected children using state-of-the-art facilities of MIOT’s dedicated Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care, regardless of the childs background.
