Apollo Hospitals Group has launched Apollo Health City in Hyderabad, India, the first functional health city in Asia. The health city offers a variety of health care solutions, including preventive care, holistic medicine, research, information technology, and education. The group has invested INR 10 billion in creating the infrastructure for the health city, while the group is planning to invest another INR 1.5-2 billion to set up research institutes over the next six months. The health city has already tied up with Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) for the hospital information system. The system connects all Apollo Hospitals and 100 telemedicine centres in India and in Dubai, Kuwait, Doha, Nigeria, Dhaka, and Sri Lanka. The group is planning to connect 52 African countries through a telemedicine initiative. Apollo Health City has a variety of other initiatives including medical BPO services, online education for medical professionals, and telemedicine services for offshore customers.
