Kerala’s Aster Medcity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Thomas Jefferson University to help Indian doctors build capacity through knowledge transfer, training and education and collaborate closely on organ transplant programmes.

“We look forward to interacting and collaborating with Aster’s team of transplant surgeons,” the Philadelphia-based university said in a statement.

According to Aster Medcity, the two institutions will collaborate on a multi-organ transplant programme.

Aster’s Chairman and Managing Director Azad Moopen said the partnership would initially be extended to the bone marrow transplant unit and would later encompass other institutions of the group.

The MoU would include knowledge transfer through organising symposia, conferences and short courses, besides training and education through institutional exchange programmes, joint study groups and joint publications.
