Roche and VinCense

Roche, a global leader in healthcare, has entered into a strategic partnership with VinCense, a digital health monitoring platform by MedIoTek Health Systems, to tackle the rising prevalence of diabetes and associated metabolic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Tamil Nadu, India.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Roche and VinCense aims to implement three key programs in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu:

1. Screening 100,000 individuals over the next two years for diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and other metabolic NCDs.
2. Intervention for uncontrolled diabetes mellitus management.
3. Intervention for tuberculosis-diabetes mellitus co-morbidity management.

The partnership will leverage comprehensive integrated digital health solutions to drive early detection, intervention, and continuum of care in the state, building upon the success of a pilot conducted between December 2022 and September 2023. During the pilot phase, 67,370 individuals were screened across Madurai district, with 16.6% identified as being at risk for diabetes and connected to the public healthcare system.

Omar Sherief Mohammad, Cluster Head – India, Middle East & Africa, Roche Diabetes Care, emphasized the importance of partnerships in creating sustainable improvements to health systems, stating, “Our approach is to bring a holistic, patient-centric approach to diabetes management by leveraging accessible and adaptable digital health platforms.”
