Roche Pharma has established a state-of-the-art Global Analytics and Technology Center of Excellence (GATE) in Hyderabad, the second such center in India, with the goal of providing innovative data Roche-driven solutions. According to an official statement, the center will collaborate with Roche’s global affiliates to expand knowledge and understanding of the healthcare field, which will aid in boosting customer engagement, patient experience, and business outcomes.

GATE will have a total headcount of 100 by the end of 2022, with plans for further expansion, according to the company.

The statement came following a meeting between Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao and V Simpson Emmanuel, Managing Director and CEO, Roche Pharma.

The meeting was also attended by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of Industries and Commerce, and Shakthi M Nagappan, Director of Life Sciences, Telangana.

Rama Rao met with Roche Chairman Christoph Franz at the World Economic Forum in 2020, as well as earlier this year in May, and spoke about Hyderabad’s strong ecosystem.
Roche, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, is the world’s largest biotech firm, offering really distinct medications in oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, ophthalmology, and central nervous system diseases.

According to Emmanuel, “When it comes to IT, analytics, and data sciences, India has always been a global leader. By expanding the operation of GATE, Roche is happy to cooperate with and exploit India’s technological leadership. At our GATE Centre in Hyderabad, we are developing Data Science and Advanced Analytics skills and will expand our offerings in the future to encompass forecasting, data management, DevOps, and so on.”

Centres like GATE would also serve the country by establishing a knowledge foundation in quickly growing fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, he added.
