Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa

The government of Goa will be launching its universal health insurance scheme in a few months. The announcement was made by the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar while speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event at the state secretariat.

According to media reports, the CM said that the public tender was issued twice and fresh suggestions have been incorporated. A reworked tender will be issued soon and the scheme is expected to start in a few months.


The Congress-led coalition government in Goa in 2011 had launched the universal health insurance scheme that provided a cover of Rs 60,000 for family of five every year in return for an extremely minimal registration amount.
