eHEALTH has achieved yet another landmark of completing 60 successful issues. The journey has been extremely exciting with the Indian healthcare sector achieving greater heights in the past decade. Healthcare has emerged as one of the most progressive and largest service sectors in India with an expected GDP spend of 8 percent by 2012 from 5.5 per cent in 2009. At present the sector is estimated to be around US$ 40 billion, in size, and will grow to US$ 78.6 billion by 2012. The Indian healthcare sector is expected to become a US$ 280 billion industry by 2020 with spending on health estimated to grow 14 percent annually.
Our cover story, this month, focuses on hospital infrastructure. A hospitals prime focus lies on the connectivity of the hospital and the networks seamlessly integrating the entire healthcare applications and services with the power of information technology. A hospital requires an expert in the design and installation of medical power systems in ICU and ICCUs, operating theatres, anesthetics rooms, and premature baby rooms including the range of resilient flooring and acoustical ceilings for hospital and healthcare sector.
