Apollo group of hospital has announced the launch of its 49th hospital at Bhubaneshwar. The 350 bed tertiary care facility with state-of-the-art technology would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The hospital has come up over 7.5 acre land at an investment of INR 120 crore, and with over 50 specialities and super-specialities it would offer comprehensive solutions across the healthcare spectrum. The hospital would offer advanced treatment and healthcare services in all the major disciplines like cardiology, cardiothorassic and vascular surgery, neurosciences, nephrology and urology, gastroenterology and gastrosurgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology and obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT, minimal access surgery, ultramodern diagnostic laboratories, etc.

The Chairman, Apollo Group, Dr. Pratap C Reddy has told mediapersons that the hospital has acquired a number of new machines such as portable colour doppler unit, advanced neo-natal intensive care unit, 64 slice CT scan and plasma coagulation equipment among others. The hospital would have 100 medical personnel directly involved while around 10,000 Apollo experts would be providing support when required. There would be a telemedicine network linking Apollo with all its hospitals across the country. Some of the other features are state-of-the-art operation theatres, ICUs, diagnostics facilities and 24×7 accident and emergency services that would ensure delivery of the highest standard of care at very affordable costs.  Dr. Reddy also unveiled plans for expansion and said that efforts were on to set up a Human Resource Development Centre here to train nurses, paramedics and technicians. There is a severe dearth of not only doctors but also nurses and paramedics in the country.
