On the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre (BMBHRC) receiving the prestigious NABH Accreditation Award, the hospital launched a State-of-the-Art Diabetes Speciality Centre. A Symposium cum free Diabetes checkup programme was also organised at the Centre Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Swami Shuvaloananda, Secretary-Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan and was also attended by Special Guest Mrs. Girija Devi-Classical Musician. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Operating Officer -Mr. Suyash Borar, said, ‘India is heading towards being the diabetic Capital of the World and every 2 out of 3 Diabetic patients are being diagnosed with heart disease. As part of our corporate social responsibility, we have launched the Diabetes Speciality Centre on 9th February, 2008 with the motto- ‘Control Diabetes, Prevent Heart Disease’. More than 200 people attended sessions and participated in the diabetes checkup camp. Besides routine Diabetes Checkup, glycosylated hemoglobin test was conducted and dietary counseling as well as diabetic foot care sessions also took place. B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre is India’s first and Eastern India’s only NABH Accredited hospital. It was first in India to get the ISO 9001(2000), ISO 14001(96), ISO 18001 and NABH certifications. It is a Not-for-profit hospital under a charitable trust and was also ranked No. 1 in India in terms of ‘Value-for-Money’ by an independent survey. It has an experience of over 15,000 Surgeries and 50,000 Cath procedures with success rate of over 99%. It also has special CGHS rates for all Central Government employees and special schemes for the underprivileged, especially children.
