US-based venture capital fund ePlanet is in talks to invest $12 million in Chennai-based medical technology company Trivitron.

UN releases pocket-charts for combating heart attack and stroke
Due to the launch of the “Pocket Guidelines for Assessment and Management of Cardiovascular Risk”, which is available in six languages, health workers around the world will be able to easily identify those at risk of heart attacks and strokes and save some of the estimated 20 million lives lost to these diseases annually by prescribing the most appropriate treatment.
Mobiles for the poorest of the poor in Africa
As part of a UN programme for tackling poverty in rural Africa, 79 villages across 10 African countries will be hooked up to cellular networks. Around half a million people, described by the UN as “the poorest of the poor”, are expected to make mobile calls soon.
