Fortis Healthcare has acquired Suguna Hospital, a 110-bed multi-specialty facility in Rajajinagar, North-West Bengaluru, for about ₹277 crore. The deal, completed on 28 October, was carried out by Fortis’ wholly owned subsidiary International Hospital Limited (IHL) through a slump sale from Suguna Ramaiah Hospitals Private Limited, among others.

Under the all-cash transaction, IHL takes over the hospital’s entire business operations along with the land and building it stands on. Fortis said the acquisition fits its cluster-focused inorganic growth strategy, under which the company builds depth in a handful of cities rather than spreading thinly across many.
What Fortis is getting
Suguna Hospital sits on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar and reported revenue of roughly ₹50 crore in FY26. The site has room to grow to about 150 beds. With the addition, Fortis says it now has around 500 potential beds across the North-West Bengaluru corridor, and close to 1,000 operational beds in the city when its operations-and-management facilities are included.

Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Managing Director and CEO of Fortis Healthcare, described North-West Bengaluru as an underserved catchment. He said the company sees significant room to draw on its existing network, scale and synergies to optimise operations at the new hospital, while strengthening its clinical capabilities and brand presence in the city.
Why it matters
Bengaluru has become one of the most contested hospital markets in India, with national chains adding beds through both greenfield projects and acquisitions of established local hospitals. Buying a running facility with its own land gives an operator immediate capacity and an existing patient base, along with the option to expand on site.
For a chain like Fortis, consolidating a cluster also opens the door to shared clinical protocols, referral pathways and common hospital information and back-office systems across nearby facilities, which is where much of the efficiency in multi-hospital networks now comes from. How quickly Suguna is brought onto the Fortis operating model, and how its capacity is expanded towards 150 beds, will be the next things to watch.
