Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC), one of Asia’s leading cancer care institutions, marks its 28th anniversary with ambitious plans to expand its footprint across the National Capital Region (NCR). In line with its mission of delivering world-class cancer care, the institute will strategically scale its operations to ensure wider access to high-quality cancer treatment. RGCIRC also reaffirmed its strong commitment to philanthropy, ensuring no one is denied treatment due to financial limitations.
Addressing the institute on this milestone occasion under the theme “Beyond Excellence,” RGCIRC leadership reflected on nearly three decades of compassionate care, innovation, and groundbreaking research in oncology. RGCIRC’s Chairman, Mr. Rakesh Chopra, spoke proudly of the institution’s remarkable journey and achievements. “Over the past 28 years, we have built a legacy in cancer research, patient care, and community service. Our success at our Rohini facility signals the growing need for us to expand. We are now looking to bring our high standard of care to more locations across NCR,” said Mr. Chopra.
He also shared details about ongoing projects, including the Niti Bagh facility, which is set to be completed within two years. The institute is already exploring additional locations for future hospitals, intending to maintain its core values of ethics, empathy, and excellence as it grows.
Mr. DS Negi, CEO of RGCIRC, highlighted the institute’s philanthropic endeavors, noting that RGCIRC spent over ₹59 crore last year to ensure that financial constraints never prevent access to treatment. “In the past decade, we’ve conducted over 120,000 free screenings, identifying early-stage cancer in 5-6% of participants and saving over 2,000 lives. Our focus on vulnerable communities remains unwavering, and last year alone, we conducted 24,000 screenings, offering free treatment and support to those in need.”
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of a refreshed RGCIRC logo, symbolizing the institute’s continued evolution in cancer care. Mr. Chopra explained, “In today’s digital era, communication and branding play an essential role in perception. Our refreshed logo encapsulates our mission to lead advancements in oncology while staying true to our values of ethics, empathy, and excellence.”
