Today, organisations have shifted from paper-based to electronic-based data, beginning with sales to supply to manufacturing. Krishna Sai T, Vice President- IT, Biocon Limited called for the adoption of data-driven decision-making in the Pharma industry. Citing the example of how this could come in handy to improve accuracy and eliminate human error to the max, he said, “Inputs that we provide on the basis of the data collected and processed help them to fix the problems at the grass-root level and prevent further complications.”

He further added, “Inputs that we give to leaders based on the data help them to fix the problems at the very beginning. Quality, Compliance & Manufacturing are the upcoming focus areas, and bringing the data from these to one common platform is needed for better operational efficiency.”

Data analytics has been the focus for the last four to five years. When we go deeper into the root cause, analysis of the deviations is because of the raw materials coming in from the vendor. The deviation is more because of historical data. The inputs that we give to leaders based on the data help them fix the problems at the root of it.

Additionally, he said, “Data analytics is moving towards a stage where we enable the core users to correlate to two or three different aspects and come up with insights that can further help in better predictive analysis and decision making.
