Covid Booster

The Union Health Ministry has announced that the Covid precaution dose, also known as the booster dose, will be made available to the 18+ population starting from April 10, at private vaccination centers.

The Health Ministry further stated that those above 18 years and who have completed 9 months after the administration of the second dose would be eligible for precaution dose at private vaccination centers.


There won’t be any modification in the existing vaccination program for the first and second doses as well as the booster doses for healthcare workers, frontline workers, and those above 60 years of age.

The ministry informed that around 96 percent of all 15-plus population in India has been administered with at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, while about 83 percent have received both the jabs.

Over 2.4 crore precaution doses have also been allocated to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and those aged above 60 years. While 45 percent in the 12-14 years age group have received the first vaccine dose, the ministry stated.
