Uttar Pradesh Becomes First State

Uttar Pradesh became the first state in India to fully vaccinate over 11 crore citizens. The state on February 10 crossed a major landmark with more than 11 crore people – 11,00,16,234 – receiving both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far.

The most populous state has so far given over 27,35,42,006 ‘Shots of Life’ to its citizens. In addition, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to over 100 percent of the eligible adult population. While over 76 percent of the population is fully vaccinated in the state.

Committed to providing additional protection cover to the priority group, the state government has started administering booster shots (precaution dose) to the frontline and healthcare workers as well as senior citizens from January 10. Over 18.80 lakh ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state so far.

Strengthening its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to vaccinate all children between 15 to 18 years of age in a time-bound manner. So far, over 1,25,14,360 teens have been administered vaccine doses in the state.

In order to ensure a ‘Covid-safe’ election in Uttar Pradesh, the state is relying on enhanced vaccination, considering which the vaccination drive has been expedited in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 16.16 crore first doses of the vaccine so far.
