34,973 New Cases

The country registered 34,973 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Its active cases account for 1.18% of the total cases and active caseload stands at 3,90,646, the union health ministry said. According to the ministry, India recorded 37,681 recoveries in the last 24 hours. This increased the total recovery count to 3,23,42,299. The recovery rate currently is at 97.49%. The weekly positivity rate is 2.31%, less than 3% for the last 77 days; and the daily positivity rate is 1.96%, less than 3% for the last 11 days.

With the inoculation of 67,58,491 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the country’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the cumulative figure of 72.37 crores (72,37,84,586) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 74,18,183 sessions, the health ministry informed. The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 17,87,611 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 53.86 crores (53,86,04,854) cumulative tests, it also informed.

On the Covid-19 vaccine availability in states and union territories (UT) , the union health ministry said that over 71.94 crores (71,94,73,325) vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs until now through the Government of India’s free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category. Further, more than 7 lakh doses (7,00,000) are in the pipeline. More than 5.72 crores (5,72,74,025) balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with states and UTs to be administered.
