India’s total covid-19 caseload has crossed 86 lakh mark with 44,281 new cases reported in past 24 hours. A total of 80.13 lakh people have recovered till date, pushing the recovery rate to 92.79 percent.

As per the data released from the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the total number of active cases has dropped below five lakh. The total infection tally mounted to 86, 36, 011, while the death toll rose to 1,27,571 after 512 new fatalities were reported in a day.

At present, there are 4,94,657 active cases in the country which comprise 5.73 per cent of the total caseload, a ANI report quoting data stated.

The report further said the total recoveries have surged to 80,13,783, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.79 per cent, while Covid-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.48 per cent.


According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 12,07,69,151 samples have been tested so far with 11,53,294Â samples being tested on Tuesday.
