To enable doctors conduct complex neurosurgeries with more precision, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has introduced a robotic surgery arm that enables doctors analyse brain dysfunctions accurately and identify the part to be treated.
To ute robotic arm surgery, neurosurgeons make a small hole inside the patients brain. This process helps identify the part of the brain which needs to be operated upon.
Earlier experts at AIIMS performed surgeries manually using stereotactic frame. But the robotic arm, an European technology originally, has helped identify exact spot of bother for providing better treatment. The surgeries are being conducted free of cost,” doctor from neurosurgery division of AIIMS said in a statement.
Following the introduction of this new technology at AIIMS, over 60 robotics neurosurgeries have been conducted at the premiere government-run hospital.
