CVDs are the leading cause of death worldwide;24% of deaths in India are caused by CVD according to WHO

Siemens is organising a hands-on training programme in coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography interpretation in collaboration with Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (FEHI) and Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) (USA).

This is the third consecutive year of the International Cardiac CT Course in India by Siemens and FEHI with 4 programmes conducted over the last 2 years.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 24% of deaths in India are caused by CVD. Being non-invasive and not requiring hospitalisation, CT is now playing a steadily increasing role in the field of CVD imaging. The key advantage of a CT is that Coronary CT Angiography (CTA) has a very high negative predictive value and is therefore an extremely useful tool to rule out coronary artery disease. To further enhance the clinical skills on this topic, hands-on SCCT certified training will be provided in CT angiography interpretation for intermediate and advanced users.

Key Takeaways

  • Dr Mona Bhatia, Head of Department, Radiodiagnosis and Imaging at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi will be conducting the training programme. The course includes a new set of 50 coronary CT angiography cases with a wide range of difficulty levels.
  • The 2-day training course with expert facility provides a unique opportunity to improve the users cardiovascular CT reading skills through personal hands-on training at their dedicated workstations, with immediate feedback through invasive coronary angiography for every case.
  • The training will provide in-depth understanding of cardiac CT guidelines, image acquisition and processing, post-processing and interpretation of datasets, coronary artery stenosis, artifacts detection, limitations and radiation dose.
