The UP government will soon launch ambulance services exclusively for pregnant women. A total of 1,000 such ambulances would be pressed into service, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ahmad Hasan informed the House on Thursday.
The Minister added that within three months, around 1,000 more ambulances would be added. These ambulances would be exclusively meant for pregnant women, Hasan informed the members and added that the service would be operated through phone number 102 throughout the state.
The aim of launching this service was to ensure that pregnant women, who face lot of hardship and difficulties in going to hospitals for delivery a child, are transported immediately to the nearest government hospital. The ambulance would be equipped in a manner that in case the woman delivers a baby in ambulance, the same could be taken care of.
The new ambulances has been approved and sanctioned by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, Hasan informed the House amidst thumping of the table.
Similarly, within a month or so from now, free ambulance service would be provided to any patient at primary or community health centres who needs to be shifted to a trauma centre or a super specialty hospital, the health and family welfare minister further said and added that this would ensure that they get immediate admission at a trauma centre or a super specialty hospital and treated in emergency.
In case such patients are not admitted, it would be the responsibility of the concerned doctor on duty and action would be taken against him, Hasan said and added this would help in taking care of the complaints from the patients that they don’t get admission at trauma centre or super specialty hospitals as hospital authorities cite non-availability of beds as the reason.
For launching this scheme also, the chief minister has given his approval and arrangements of funds had been made, Hasan further said. Similarly, he said that for the first time digital X-ray machine has been installed at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. In days to come, digital X-ray machines would be installed at all the district hospitals in the state, Hasan assured the House and added along with the installation, technician to operate the same would also be posted.
