Medfort Hospitals Pvt. Ltd announced the merger with Maxivision Eye Hospitals (Maxivision), a renowned eye care chain headquartered in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. This merger will result in housing the best-in-class cataract and retina units. The joint entity will house refractive Lasik Suites combining Supracor & Intracor to provide Lasik treatment, including presbyopic lasik treatment for all class of patients Commenting on this merger Dr. G. S. K. Velu, Chairman, Medfort Hospitals said, “Medfort has seized the opportunity provided by the lacuna in synergized, high quality Vision Care and Diabetes Care to emerge as the largest day care chain in the country.” Dr Velum said that Medfort hopes to expand Maxivision’s network to include 50 hospitals across 20 cities within the next 12 months. He further added, “Multispecialty tertiary care hospital chains in India are not able to provide adequate attention to the needs of eye care and diabetes, doctors and patients. Patients require expert advice and wholesome (not just symptomatic) treatment in a day care model without the risk of secondary infection; while the doctors require an enabling environment without the pressure to generate higher benchmarked revenue targets.
