MCD plans to boost healthcare facilities by planning “medcity” which will comprise 1,000-bed general hospital and a 200-seat medical college in the capital. The project is around Rs 600 crore, which has now received response from several private firms. MCD Public Health Committee Chairman V K Monga said that they are looking for public-private- partnership mode and have received applications from a number of firms. The place proposed is over 50 acres of land of RBIPMT, which is a 1,155-bed hospital with a sprawling campus of 78 acres in Kingsway Camp. It will renovate RBIPMT into a modern hospital and also build a 1,000-bed general hospital. It will also include a 200-seat medical college, a nursing college, a college of hospital administration and a pharmacy college. The academic institution is supposed to come up in five years which will have advanced laboratory for all disciplines and a trauma centre, as reported by officials.
