Parents tend to give paracetamol to kids quite often which is now proved to be harmful. Doctors should warn parents that giving regular spoonfuls of paracetamol and ibuprofen to children with a mild fever could extend their illness or put their health at risk. This might also be termed as fever phobia as the slightest of fever symptoms make parents give their kids paracetamol and ibuprofen to lower the temperature. Also most of the parents tend to give wrong dosage to their children as reported by Telegraph. Whereas, the American Academy of Pediatrics advised that high temperature is a way to fighting an infection and using drugs to lower down the temperature may prolong illness. Paracetamol use has reported quite a few adverse effects majorly asthma and ibuprofen causes stomach ulcers and bleeding, and leading to kidney problems. Family doctors too advise parents to give antipyretics to their children which is absolutely not required if the fever is not due to any serious cause.
