The regional government of Nagapattinam district administration has decided to make use of telemedicine services to provide psychological treatment to the tsunami-hit children.
According to officials, around 1,247 children, who had been diagnosed with psychological problems in the district, would be provided counselling through video-conferencing soon. Teachers and NGOs working closely with the tsunami-hit children, particularly orphans, had reported that many children were having psychological problems. The district administration, in coordination with an NGO urged services of experts from Chennai in this regard.
