The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli (NITT) has expressed a keen interest in starting a Telemedicine Centre, during a workshop on ‘Telemedicine’ conducted recently by the institute under its Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). The telemedicine division of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Telemedicine Society of India has offered support to the institute to start the Telemedicine Centre. ISRO will provide telecommunication network assistance to the institute while the Telemedicine Society will provide expert knowledge required for the Centre. NITT Director M. Chidambaram announced that facilities would be created for setting up the Centre.
