NEST- “Network for Integrated Systems in Telemedicine” exhibited its products and developments for the first time in Mumbai at HOSPIMedica from March 14th to 16th 2008. NEST presented its telemedical solutions for a better emergency care, be it on board of an airplane or within inaccessible areas, with less medical care centres.

Ywes Israel, network manager of NEST, will inform visitors about the recent developments and projects. One of the projects is “StrokeNet” – a telemedicine system, which allows by transmitting vitality functions (e.g. ECG), monitoring data, picture and sound between mobile intensive care units and a hospital with a specialised stroke unit, currently five ambulance cars in Berlin are equipped with this system and some pilot data on acceptance and performance improvements is collected. In addition the ALSmanager is presented. ALSmanager is designed to support each member in a patient support chain. Data of patients with chronic diseases are stored in a web-based database application. All necessary patient parameters can be defined to get a complete patient profile. All data are continued in each patient visit. Important data can also be imported from homecare devices on a regular basis. The respective data upload can be defined for each patient individually by the treating physician. Preconditions are a local PC, internet access and homecare devices need to be able to transfer relevant patient data via USB-port. Patients, monitored by ALSmanager can easily be recruited and transferred to ALSstudy or ALScare, two professional modules to design and ute pharmaceutical or care based studies. All patient related data, like medication history or course of disease can be included to study based or cross studies analyses. Both projects were developed and implemented from NEST partners. NEST is looking forward to establishing business contacts with representatives of Indias innovative telemedicine centres, hospitals, ambulance car providers and physicians. NEST is a consortium of private companies, research and medical institutions. Our partners range from large and well known hospitals to small but very innovative companies from all over Germany. NEST supports the partners in developing and marketing products, systems and methods. Activities are focused on emergency medical aid, home care, clinical studies and standardization. NEST is co- funded by NEMO- (Netzwerkmanagement Ost).
