Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals Group recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana’s health ministry to develop tertiary healthcare services in the African country and to offer specialised medical services to patients there.


According to the agreement signed between Ghana’s deputy health minister Victor Asare Bampoe and Apollo Hospitals chief utive officer (central region) Hari Prasad, Apollo Hospitals will provide high-end tertiary healthcare services and advanced care to patients referred by the ministry of health, Republic of Ghana, at Apollo’s chain of hospitals in Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Apollo Hospitals will also advise the government of Ghana in revamping its healthcare system. We will help the health ministry of Ghana in laying a strong foundation in tertiary care services and address the health needs of the people of Ghana,” the company told in a statement.

Apart from that, Apollo Hospitals consultants will run cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, nephrology, neurosurgery and paediatric specialty clinics in Ghana. In addition, Apollo will provide skill development training to medical and paramedical staff in Ghana and also aid them in assessment of gaps in healthcare facilities at the Korle Bu Hospital in Accra and other hospitals under Ghana’s health ministry. Apollo will also offer super-specialty consultations through telemedicine to hospitals in Ghana for the duration of two years.
