Dimension NXG, the Mumbai deep-tech company behind AjnaLens, on 7 November 2026 launched OJAS Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE), embedding engineers inside hospitals, health systems and government health programmes so clinical artificial intelligence moves from pilot projects into everyday care. The service starts with multiple engineers based in Mumbai and will serve India, the United States and the Gulf.

The launch lands about six months before the 13 May 2027 deadline for full compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules notified on 13 November 2025. Hospitals holding sensitive patient data are under pressure to favour AI that stays on their own infrastructure, a theme eHealth has tracked in the National Health Authority’s Sandbox 2.0 agentic AI push under ABDM.

What OJAS Forward Deployed Engineering does on site

Dimension NXG engineers work with clinicians, IT and compliance teams on the hospital campus. They deploy OJAS specialist clinical AI for clinical documentation, dermatology and metabolic health, and connect custom workflows to the hospital’s existing hospital information system (HIS), in line with other mid-market HIS and AI rollouts such as SurgyOne’s agentic AI HIS for India and GCC hospitals.

  • Engineers sit with clinical, IT and compliance teams on site.
  • Modules cover clinical documentation, dermatology and metabolic health.
  • Integrations target the hospital’s current HIS.
  • Every AI output is clinician-reviewed; nothing enters the patient record without a doctor’s approval.
  • Engagements typically start in one department and expand once workflows are stable.

Why on-prem hospital AI matters ahead of the DPDP deadline

Under the FDE model, clinical AI runs on the hospital’s own servers, behind its firewall and under its access controls, with every action logged for audit. Patient data is not sent to an outside cloud for inference. Edge and on-prem clinical AI has been a growing beat on eHealth, from O-Health’s edge AI funding to the IIT Jodhpur–ICMR work on AI diagnostics.

Pankaj Raut on making hospital AI work inside the walls

Pankaj Raut, Co-founder and CEO of Dimension NXG, said: “Most hospitals don’t struggle to find good AI. They struggle to make it work inside their own walls, with their own data, systems and people. With India’s data protection deadline about six months away, hospitals can’t afford AI projects that stall at legal and IT review. Our engineers go to the hospital’s servers, sit with its clinicians, and stay until the AI is part of everyday care.”

Founded in 2014 with IIT Bombay roots, Dimension NXG won a CES Innovation Award in 2023 and has a strategic investment from Lenskart. OJAS was built with practising clinicians, including dermatologists at AIIMS New Delhi, and peer-reviewed research in 2026 on AI clinical documentation in Indian healthcare. Engagements are open from 7 November 2026 for hospitals, health systems and government programmes in India and the Gulf via ojaslife.ai, as also reported in a Business Standard ANI press release.

Key takeaways

  • Dimension NXG launched OJAS Forward Deployed Engineering on 7 November 2026 to embed engineers in hospitals and take clinical AI from pilot to routine use.
  • AI runs on the hospital’s own infrastructure behind its firewall, with clinician sign-off before any record update, ahead of the May 2027 DPDP deadline.
  • Service starts from Mumbai for India, the United States and the Gulf; modules include clinical documentation, dermatology and metabolic health.
