In an era where post-discharge patient engagement and chronic care management remain major gaps in healthcare delivery, Heaps.ai is emerging as a transformative force. In this exclusive interaction, Dr. Suman Katragadda, CEO & Founder of Heaps.ai, speaks with Dr. Asawari Savant of Elets News Network (ENN) about how his AI-powered platform is redefining care continuity, supporting insurers, hospitals, and corporates across India and international markets.
Heaps.ai is positioned as a solution to several patient care management pain points. Can you elaborate on the specific challenges in healthcare delivery that Heaps is addressing, particularly for insurers, hospitals, and corporations?

Traditionally, once a patient is discharged, they fall off the radar. Hospitals lack the capacity to track recovery, insurers can’t monitor risk in real-time, and corporations offering health benefits get little insight into outcomes. This leads to readmissions, revenue leakage, poor chronic care adherence, and rising claims ratios. Heaps.ai bridges these gaps by providing a unified, AI-powered platform that enables proactive post-discharge care, chronic disease management, and continuity of care. For insurers, this means better risk predictability and reduced loss ratios. For hospitals, it enables value-based care models with measurable patient outcomes. And for employers, it offers improved health ROI through data-driven engagement. The current digital health landscape focuses heavily on acute care or diagnostics. Heaps is solving what happens after that, ensuring patients stay on track, reducing long-term costs, and delivering better health outcomes across the ecosystem.

Since launching in 2020, what have been the key milestones or breakthroughs for Heaps.ai, both in terms of product development and market traction?

After three years of research and development, we launched with a leading hospital based out of Andhra Pradesh as our first client, quickly gaining recognition through awards like the FICCI Healthcare Innovation Award. These validations accelerated our growth, leading to partnerships with seven of India’s top twelve insurers and expansion into the UAE, South Africa, and Oman by 2023. Our platform evolved from a personal problem to a scalable enterprise solution that transforms care delivery and cost management globally. These achievements reflect strong market traction and growing trust in our AI-driven approach, positioning Heaps.ai as a leader in healthtech innovation.

In 2023, Heaps.ai entered the UAE market through a strategic partnership with Prime Healthcare Group. How has this collaboration influenced your regional credibility, operations, and platform optimisation for the Middle East market?
Since 2023, the collaboration began with a successful Post-Discharge Care Journey rollout in Dubai, earning positive feedback and leading to expanded implementation of Chronic and Geriatric Care modules. Plans for a Women’s Health module are underway, reflecting growing trust and engagement. This partnership has enhanced our regional credibility and optimised our platform to meet Middle East market needs. We’re also exploring a strategic pilot with Pure Health, covering public hospitals and insurers, which will further establish Heaps.ai as a key player in the UAE’s healthcare transformation.
What are your strategic plans for expanding into MENA, South Africa, and other emerging healthcare markets? What role does AI-driven care continuity play in driving adoption in these regions?
In the MENA region, we are expanding our presence in the UAE and Oman, while also engaging in active discussions in Saudi Arabia. In South Africa, we currently collaborate with seven major medical schemes, with a goal to double this number by 2025. Our partnership with Oman’s Ministry of Health marks a significant milestone. In Europe, we are focusing on Turkey and Italy, with Turkey’s second-largest insurer expected to go live by mid-2025. The implementation of AI-driven care continuity is essential for adoption in these areas, as it helps improve risk management, reduce fragmentation, and enhance patient outcomes. This approach aligns with the complexities of local healthcare ecosystems and the priorities of stakeholders, driving growth for Heaps.ai.
Is Heaps.ai currently in discussions for a new funding round? If so, how will the next round of investment be deployed—towards R&D, market expansion, or new platform capabilities?
Yes, we are currently preparing for our Series B round. This next phase will be crucial for scaling operations, accelerating global expansion, and improving product innovation.

With many startups operating in the digital health space, what distinguishes Heaps.ai’s approach to AI and data analytics from others? How do you ensure clinical relevance, scalability, and interoperability in your B2B offerings?
Heaps.ai differentiates itself by addressing pain points that most digital health startups avoid due to complexity. We pioneered post-discharge care journeys in India—a segment others tried to enter but failed to sustain. Our ability to convert such challenging solutions into viable, B2B models that hospitals and insurers are willing to pay for demonstrates both clinical relevance and business impact. Our platform is designed for real-world scalability, integrating effortlessly into fragmented healthcare environments. Whether it’s chronic care, women’s health, or geriatric care, every module we build is clinically guided and co-developed with stakeholders. We also prioritise interoperability—our systems integrate with hospital EMRs, insurance databases, and government health schemes seamlessly. The fact that we’re being retained and expanded by major clients, and replacing global competitors in some markets, is proof that our AI and data analytics offerings are not just technologically sound but operationally and clinically effective.
