NITI Aayog has proposed a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen Ayurveda’s global presence, aiming to position India’s traditional system of medicine as a trusted and evidence-based healthcare solution. The strategy focuses on enhancing research, improving quality standards, promoting innovation, and expanding international collaborations to boost Ayurveda’s acceptance across global markets.

The roadmap emphasises the need for stronger scientific research and clinical validation to build greater confidence among healthcare professionals, policymakers, and consumers. It also highlights the importance of leveraging digital technologies and supporting innovation to modernise the Ayurveda ecosystem.

A major recommendation is the standardisation of Ayurvedic medicines and practices to ensure they meet international quality and safety standards. Strengthening certification systems, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance is expected to improve the credibility of Indian Ayurvedic products in overseas markets.

The strategy also encourages partnerships with global academic institutions, healthcare organisations, and research bodies to promote knowledge exchange and collaborative research. Additionally, it recommends modernising Ayurveda education and expanding skill development programmes to prepare practitioners for global opportunities.

Recognising the growing demand for preventive healthcare and wellness solutions, the roadmap calls for stronger branding and awareness campaigns to showcase Ayurveda’s holistic approach to health. Increased participation in international healthcare events and targeted promotional initiatives are expected to further enhance its global visibility.

The proposed roadmap aligns with India’s vision of becoming a leading hub for traditional medicine. By combining scientific research, quality assurance, innovation, and international cooperation, the initiative aims to unlock new opportunities for healthcare, exports, investment, and sustainable economic growth while reinforcing Ayurveda’s position on the global stage.
