Aster DM Healthcare has announced a major expansion initiative to strengthen its hospital network in India, backed by a planned investment of ₹2,600 crore. The healthcare group aims to add 2,632 beds, increasing its total capacity from 5,199 to nearly 7,800 beds nationwide over the next few years.
According to the company, around ₹400 crore of the proposed investment has already been utilised toward infrastructure development and capacity enhancement. This move underscores Aster’s long-term strategy to expand its presence in key Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, where it currently operates 889 beds.
Strong Financial Growth and Strategic Expansion
Over the past five years, Aster DM Healthcare India has witnessed remarkable growth, reporting a 20% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in revenues, reaching ₹41.38 billion in FY25. Its operating EBITDA also recorded an impressive 38% CAGR, rising to ₹8.06 billion, driven by operational efficiencies and expanding patient reach.
The planned capacity addition aligns with Aster’s commitment to delivering advanced and accessible healthcare solutions. Commenting on the company’s vision, Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, stated, “Our goal is not just to expand, but to transform healthcare delivery through technology and strategic partnerships.”
Merger with QCIL to Position Aster Among India’s Top Three Hospital Operators
In line with its aggressive growth plans, Aster DM Healthcare has announced a merger with Quality Care India Limited (QCIL), which is currently pending regulatory approvals. Once finalised, the combined entity is expected to become one of India’s top three hospital operators, with a network exceeding 14,000 beds across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
This consolidation is expected to unlock significant operational synergies, enhance resource optimisation, and expand access to quality healthcare across multiple regions.
Collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Government
In a recent development, Dr. Azad Moopen and Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, met with N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, during his UAE visit. The discussion focused on potential healthcare partnerships and upcoming investments in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting Aster’s interest in deepening its regional footprint and supporting the state’s healthcare infrastructure development.
