Sandoz India has appointed Priyaranjan Jha as Global Head of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and Country President, Sandoz India, giving him a dual mandate spanning the company’s India operations and its global capability-centre network. 

Based in Hyderabad, Jha will oversee Sandoz’s GCC operations across Hyderabad, Prague, Mexico City and Madrid, with a mandate to further develop the centres as an integral part of the company’s global operating model. He will report to Remco Steenbergen, Chief Financial Officer, Sandoz. 

The appointment comes as global pharmaceutical companies increasingly use GCCs not only for shared services, but also for digital transformation, specialised capabilities, innovation and global business delivery. Jha’s mandate combines the development of Sandoz’s global capability ecosystem with leadership of its India business.

Jha brings around 31 years of professional experience, spanning leadership roles across global business services, operations and transformation. Before joining Sandoz, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Global Business Services at Iron Mountain. His earlier experience includes leadership positions at PepsiCo, Genpact, Reliance Infocomm, IBM India and Tata Motors. He holds a PGDM in Strategy, Marketing and HR from IIM Lucknow. 

At PepsiCo, Jha was involved in building the company’s India Capability Centre in Hyderabad, which grew to more than 3,000 associates, before he took on the role of COO – Global Business Services, overseeing operations across seven global delivery hubs supporting approximately 9,000 colleagues.

Announcing his move, Jha said his new mandate involves “growing and evolving GCCs” across Hyderabad, Prague, Mexico City and Madrid. He also highlighted Sandoz’s focus on expanding access to affordable medicines.

The leadership transition underscores the expanding role of India within the global GCC and pharmaceutical ecosystem, particularly as companies seek to integrate technology, specialised talent and enterprise capabilities into their global operations. For Sandoz, the appointment places India leadership and the evolution of its worldwide GCC network under a single mandate.
