India’s Healthcare

India continues to make significant strides in healthcare with key developments aimed at improving maternal and newborn care, secondary healthcare infrastructure, and mental health services. Here’s an overview of the latest updates that reflect the nation’s commitment to holistic healthcare delivery:

Fernandez and SSSH&ET Join Hands for Maternal and Newborn Care

Fernandez Hospital Education and Research Foundation has partnered with the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust (SSSH&ET) to elevate the quality of maternal and newborn healthcare services across India.

The collaboration aims to adopt the midwifery philosophy of care at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals. A three-level midwifery training program combining virtual and in-person modules will be introduced for Sanjeevani’s nursing staff.

Dr. Evita Fernandez, Chairperson and MD of Fernandez Foundation, highlighted the importance of midwifery in optimizing childbirth practices. She emphasized, “We aim to extend our expertise in midwifery by sensitizing doctors and nurses to evidence-based and compassionate care.”

Dr. C. Sreenivas, Chairman of SSSH&ET, added, “This partnership seeks to provide comprehensive care for underprivileged communities during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.”

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda stated, “This integration ensures equitable, accessible, and quality mental healthcare services. With over 36 states and UTs setting up Tele-MANAS cells, the initiative is transforming mental health support at the grassroots level.”

Additionally, the government is increasing the availability of trained psychiatrists and mental health professionals by revising post-graduate training requirements and incentivizing healthcare practitioners in underserved regions.

A Holistic Vision for Healthcare

From maternal health and advanced secondary care to mental health integration, these initiatives demonstrate India’s multi-faceted approach to improving healthcare accessibility and quality. With such collaborative and infrastructural enhancements, the country is poised to address longstanding healthcare challenges while building a resilient system for future generations.
