In a landmark development for healthcare in India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, has inaugurated an array of medical and pharmaceutical facilities in Madhya Pradesh. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) Sub Zonal office and the Central Drug Testing Laboratory (CDTL) in Indore are among the key inaugurations, aimed at boosting the quality of medicines and the ease of doing business in the pharmaceutical sector.

The minister also laid the foundation stone for several new facilities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal. These include advanced health infrastructure such as a Drone Station, a Dexa Scan Suit, a state-of-the-art Gym Complex, a Trauma & Emergency Operation Theatre Complex, and the first installation in India of the Cobas 5800 System for Viral Load Assay. Additionally, a new Private Ward Complex with 16 fully furnished rooms was unveiled.

This expansion in Madhya Pradesh’s healthcare infrastructure also features the inauguration of 190 Pharmaceutical Industries, 55 WHO-GMP Complied Manufacturing Units, 163 Blood Centres, and other significant units, reinforcing the state’s position as a pivotal healthcare hub in India.

The Union Minister expressed his commitment to ensuring high-quality medicines through the CDSCO Sub-Zonal office, noting the critical role of the CDTL and Sub-Zonal Office in regulating drugs, cosmetics, and medical devices.

In the educational sector, the 75th Foundation Day of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Indore was marked, with Dr Mandaviya highlighting the government’s vision of converting every district into an Ayushman district, each equipped with a medical college. The initiatives are inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles and align with the new education policy introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr Mandaviya also launched the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College alumni network, a postal stamp, and a diamond jubilee souvenir of the institute, in addition to releasing the book “Essential Pediatrics” in Hindi.

Emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare, Dr Mandaviya praised Indore’s residents for their commitment to cleanliness and healthcare initiatives. He noted the success of the ‘Health of Indore’ survey, which is set to expand into a nationwide ‘Health of India’ campaign for preventive health care.

This comprehensive series of inaugurations and initiatives marks a significant step forward in enhancing the quality of healthcare and medical education in Madhya Pradesh and sets a precedent for similar developments across India.
