Hyderabad, Telangana: The much-awaited India Pharma Expo 2026, being held alongside the NextGen Pharma Summit & Awards, begins today, 23rd April 2026, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, brought together leading voices from across the pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare ecosystems to deliberate on innovation, regulatory excellence, and the future of manufacturing in India’s rapidly evolving life sciences sector.
The day commenced with Inaugural Session: “India’s Pharma & Healthcare Growth Roadmap” featured a ceremonial lamp lighting followed by a welcome address by Dr Ravi Gupta, Founder & CEO, Elets Technomedia and Editor-in-Chief, eHealth Magazine. He welcomed global dignitaries and highlighted the event’s scale, with 300+ brands, nearly 100 speakers, and diverse exhibitors, setting the stage for collaboration and innovation in healthcare.
Distinguished keynote speakers, including H.E. Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, highlighted the significance of the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), noting that it will strengthen the pharmaceutical sector through enhanced market access, regulatory collaboration, manufacturing partnerships, and increased innovation and investment between the two countries. Sudarshan Jain, Secretary General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, emphasising Telangana’s emergence as a major pharma and IT hub, emphasising that the future of the industry lies in the convergence of technology and life sciences, which will drive the next wave of innovation and efficiency.
K.K. Maheshwari, Senior Vice President, The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry, stressed the importance of such platforms in fostering collaboration between policymakers and industry, while also calling for stronger support for MSMEs through improved technology access, export facilitation, and self-reliant supply chains. Chakravarthi AVPS, Chairman, Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) – Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, Global Ambassador, World Packaging Organisation, noted Hyderabad’s transition from a generics-focused base to a global innovation hub, highlighting the increasing role of R&D, advanced packaging, and IT–pharma integration in shaping the future of the pharmaceutical sector.
