The Academy of Digital Health Sciences and GenServe.AI have launched the Global AI Academy, an international initiative aimed at equipping healthcare leaders with practical expertise in artificial intelligence.
The initiative brings together Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, founder of the Academy of Digital Health Sciences, AI researcher, and creator of the AI Maturity Model and the Functional AI Pyramid, and Dr. Ashish Atreja, former CIO and Chief Digital Health Officer of UC Davis Health, known for establishing AI Centers of Excellence across health systems.
The Global AI Academy was formally launched at the India AI Summit 2026 by Aneesh Chopra, the first Chief Technology Officer of the United States and former Assistant to U.S. President Barack Obama, along with Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India.
The initiative focuses on addressing the shortage of structured AI education and leadership readiness in the healthcare sector, where the adoption of artificial intelligence requires both clinical understanding and operational expertise. The academy follows a learner-centered model grounded in adult learning science and real-world application.
“Every healthcare professional must return to the learning board. We cannot deliver 21st-century healthcare with 20th-century skills. AI is a transformative force reshaping industries globally. Yet the greatest gap and opportunity lie in the lack of AI education across all levels, from students to senior professionals. We are proud to partner with GenServe to democratize access to high-quality AI education worldwide, beginning with CEO and executive bootcamps.” Said, Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, the co-founder and co-chair of the Global AI Academy.
Commenting on the launch, the co-founder and co-chair, Dr. Ashish Atreja said, “As AI innovation accelerates at lightning speed, its true impact will be determined by leaders who are deeply fluent in AI. Through strategic partnerships with industry, academia, and the public sector, the Global AI Academy equips leaders and clinicians with both the vision and practical skills to confidently drive human-led AI transformation, ensuring that no healthcare organization is left behind.’”
The academy will conduct leadership bootcamps designed for healthcare CEOs, hospital leadership teams, academic deans, institutional leaders, government and public-sector administrators, and health-tech innovators.
Participants will learn frameworks related to strategic AI adoption, governance and risk management, organizational change management, clinical and operational value creation, and financial sustainability in AI transformation. Through scenario-based learning and peer exchange, healthcare organizations will learn how to align AI implementation with clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and long-term healthcare strategy.
The academy will also introduce an internship and entrepreneurship track connecting academia, startups, and healthcare systems to support the development of deployable AI solutions for the healthcare sector.
To expand global access, the initiative will offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), synthetic datasets for experimentation, hands-on practicum projects, certification pathways, and a global peer learning community, designed for learners ranging from students and residents to faculty members, executives, and policymakers in healthcare and related sectors.
