vaccine milestone crosses 19 crore

Setting a new record for Covid 19 vaccination, Uttar Pradesh reached a new milestone after crossing the landmark of administering 19 crore doses on Wednesday. Uttar Pradesh has administered the highest number of doses amongst all the states.

Standing on the top, Uttar Pradesh has administered a total of 19,00,01,931 total doses. UP is followed by Maharashtra with 12.93 crore doses. In terms of percentage, over 44 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated and more than 83.55 percent have received one vaccine dose. The feat was accomplished in 11 months since the rollout of the mass immunization campaign on January 16 to vaccinate the entire eligible population over 18 years of age.

In the wake of the emergence of the new variant ‘OMICRON’, the government has expedited its vaccination coverage in the state. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had already stated on Tuesday that complete vaccination has proven to be effective in fighting against new variants like ‘Omicron’, hence, the pace of the ongoing vaccination drive in the state should be expedited. All those people who have not taken the second dose despite the stipulated time on a priority basis should be contacted.

According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 12,36,07,286 first doses of the vaccine so far. In terms of second doses, Uttar Pradesh has administered over 6.63 crore doses. Now, in the ongoing door-to-door awareness campaign in the villages, healthcare teams including Asha and Anganwadi workers are busting myths and motivating people to take the jab as soon as possible.
