Dengue cases

Over 13,000 cases of Dengue have been reported in Rajasthan this year, Ghaziabad has 1000+ active cases, 2700+ cases in Delhi while Tamil Nadu has seen nearly 500 people getting affected by this dengue outbreak. Punjab has reported more than 18,000 confirmed dengue cases till the first week of November indicating the severity of the outbreak.

High level teams have been deployed by the central government to monitor the nine states and union territories seeing a rise in the dengue cases. These include Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir.


These rising numbers are worrying signs for an already stressed healthcare system that is still battling with covid and related ailments. Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquitoes within the genus Aedes (Ae.). Aedes is a day time feeder and can fly up to a limited distance of 400 meters.
