Covid-19 vaccination

On a day when Uttar Pradesh recorded 5 fresh COVID-19 cases, the State’s overall vaccination coverage crossed 16 crores. Uttar Pradesh has administered the highest number of doses across the board among States.

The feat was accomplished in nearly 10.5 months since the rollout of the mass immunisation campaign on January 16 to vaccinate the entire eligible population aged 18 years and above.


Taking the numero-uno spot, Uttar Pradesh has administered 16,02,09,264 total doses. The State is followed by Maharashtra with 11,20,16,811 doses. In terms of percentage, over 33 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated and more than 75 percent have received one vaccine dose.

In the light of the emergence of the new variant ‘omicron’, the government has expedited its vaccination coverage in the state. According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 11,25,53,288 first doses of the vaccine so far. In terms of second doses, Uttar Pradesh has administered 4,90,48,738 second doses.


Now, in the ongoing door-to-door awareness campaign in the villages, healthcare teams including Asha and Anganwadi workers are busting myths and motivating people to take the jab as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, 5 new Covid-19 cases were reported across the state in the past 24 hours. The cases were reported from four districts. As many as nine persons had recovered from coronavirus infection taking the total of recovered to 17.10 lakh, translating into a recovery rate of over 98%. Along with that, the Active Covid Caseload in the most populous state has been reduced to 79 now.
