Vaccination Coverage Crosses 87 Crore

The country’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 87 crores (87,07,08,636) as per provisional reports till 7 am today with the administration of 1,02,22,525 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. This has been achieved through 84,62,957 sessions, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

According to MoHFW, the recovery of 26,030 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,29,58,002. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.81% and the recovery rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020.


“Sustained and collaborative efforts by the centre and the states/UTs continue the trend of less than 50,000 daily new cases that is being reported for 93 consecutive days now,” the union health ministry informed.

Also, India reported daily new cases less than 20,000 after 201 days; 18,795 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. “The active caseload is presently 2,92,206, which is the lowest in 192 days. The active cases presently constitute 0.87% of the country’s total positive cases,” it also informed.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded, it further said. “The last 24 hours saw a total of 13,21,780 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 56.57 crores (56,57,30,031) cumulative tests. While the testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the weekly positivity rate at 1.88% remains less than 3% for the last 95 days now. The daily positivity rate reported to be 1.42% and the daily positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 29 days and below 5% for 112 consecutive days now.”
