25,467 New Cases in India

India reported 25,467 new cases in the last 24 hours. Its active cases account for less than 1% of the total cases as it stands at 0.98%, its lowest since March 2020. The country’s active caseload stands at 3,19,551, its lowest in 156 days, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

According to MoHFW, India’s recovery rate has increased to 97.68%, its highest since March 2020 as the country registered 39,486 recoveries in the last 24 hours, thereby cloaking 3,17,20,112 recoveries. The weekly positivity rate is 1.90%, less than 3% for the last 60 days; and the daily positivity rate is 1.55%, less than 3% for the last 29 days.


India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 58.89 crores as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This, the health ministry said, has been achieved through 65,03,493 sessions. Also, it said that the testing capacity across the country continued to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 16,47,526 tests being conducted. Until now, India has conducted over 50.93 crores.

On Covid-19 vaccine availability, MoHFW informed that the union government has provided more than 57.15 crore vaccine doses to states and union territories so far through its free-of-cost channel as well as direct state procurement category. Further, 1,00,84,700 doses are in the pipeline. More than 3.29 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered.
