India reported 42,640 new cases in the last 24 hours; less than 50,000 in 91 days. Its active caseload declined to 6,62,521; less than 7 lakh after 79 days.
The country has recorded 2,89,26,038 recoveries until now as 81,839 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 40th consecutive day, with the recovery rate increasing to 96.49%.
The weekly positivity rate remained below 5%, currently at 3.21% and the daily positivity rate at 2.56%, less than 5% for 15 consecutive days.
The testing capacity ramped up as 39.40 crores tests total conducted.
Meanwhile, India administered 86.16 lakh vaccine doses in a single day; highest-ever single day vaccination achieved in the world so far. It has administered 28.87 crores vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
