Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has decided to close two primary schools and a college in the city as 20 students found to be for Covid-19 in Gujarat city.
At least 118 students and teachers in Surat are Covid-19 positive since the government had decided to re-open regular classes of educational institutions in February this year.
According to SMC, 10 students at the Barfiwala College and 10 pupils from two different primary schools have been tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. This development prompted the civic body to shut down the schools for two weeks.
The city reported 188 new Covid-19 cases. This took the tally in Surat to 42,259. As per the official figures, 40,503 patients have recovered from the Covid-19 infection.
