India is the fastest to cross the seven million vaccination mark. Over 75 lakh beneficiaries (75,05,010) have received vaccination under the country-wide COVID-19 vaccination exercise, in the past 24 hours a statement released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said.

“Out of the 75 lakh – 58,14,976 healthcare workers and 16,90,034 frontline workers. 1,54,370 sessions have been conducted so far. India is the fastest country to cross the 70 lakh (7 million) vaccination mark,” the MoHFW said in a statement.

On the 27th day of vaccination, the MoHFW informed that the number of beneficiaries being vaccinated every day has shown a progressive increase. Ten States/UTs have vaccinated 69 percent of the total beneficiaries. Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for 10.2 percent (7,63,421) of the total beneficiaries.

The ministry also indicated that the total active cases have seen a sharp decline, falling to 1.35 lakh (1,35,926) as of today. Maharashtra has contributed the highest number to the newly recovered cases (6,107), followed by Kerala(5,692) and Chhattisgarh (848).


As of now, the new cases are from six states stands 79.87 percent of which Kerala has reported the highest daily new cases at 5,281. It is followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with 652and 481 new cases, respectively.

“87 case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Six States account for 75.86 percent, Maharashtra has reported the maximum casualties with 25 new fatalities. It is followed by Kerala with 16 new daily deaths,” the statement said.
